Uber’s former security chief, Joe Sullivan, was recently charged by federal prosecutors for trying to cover up a data breach the company had in 2016. The breach exposed 57 million rider and driver’s records. Sullivan reportedly paid a “bug bounty” of $100,000 to the two hackers involved, so they would sign a nondisclosure agreement. A recent [smishing scam](https://www.mcafee.com/blogs/consumer/consumer-threat-notices/fedex-sms-phishing-scam/#:~:text=This%20SMiShing%20campaign%20uses%20text,as%20a%20fake%20Amazon%20listing.&text=What's%20more%2C%20the%20text%20messages,making%20this%20threat%20even%20stealthier.) has been sending people text messages posing as a shipping company with the information on a placed order. Some scammers have posed as FedEx, USPS, or stated they had your package without listing what shipping company it was through. Do not click the links in the sent messages. Always confirm updates of your order by logging into the website from which you purchased it.
