**Password-protect your files:** A easy way to lock sensitive files on your computer is to create an encrypted archive. You likely have a copy of [7-Zip](https://www.techspot.com/downloads/757-7-zip.html), [WinRAR](https://www.techspot.com/downloads/67-winrar.html), or [The Unarchiver](https://www.techspot.com/downloads/3443-the-unarchiver-for-mac.html) (Mac) or some [equivalent](https://www.techspot.com/downloads/compression/) on your computer. All you must do is create a new archive, select to encrypt its contents, and password-protect the file.
